Pick-Up & Drop-Off at the Terminal

For immediate drop-offs and pickups, use the curbside areas. However, vehicles cannot be left unattended. Unattended vehicles on either the Departures (upper) or Arrivals (lower) levels may be towed.

Picking Up Passengers:

The free Cell Phone Lot is the best place to wait. Once your passenger has their bags, they can call or text you, and you can then drive to the lower level (Arrivals/Baggage Claim) for pickup. For those who want to meet inside the terminal, the Hourly Deck on levels 4-7 is the most convenient parking option, with direct walkways to the terminal.

Dropping Off Passengers:

You can drop off passengers curbside on the upper level (Departures/Ticketing). If you wish to park and walk your passenger into the terminal, the Hourly Deck on levels 4-7 is the most convenient choice, offering direct walkway access.

All CLT Airport Parking facilities provide accessible parking and continuous shuttle service for those with disabilities.

Common Parking Questions

Answers to some of the most common questions about parking at Charlotte Douglas International Airport.

Where is the best place to park for dropping off or picking up travelers?

You can drop off or pick up passengers directly at the terminal curb. However, vehicles cannot be left idling or unattended. This area is strictly for immediate loading and unloading. For longer waits, we recommend using the free Cell Phone Lot or the Hourly Deck, which are great options for both dropping off and picking up travelers. You can find more details about these services on the dedicated pickup and drop-off information page.

What are the parking rates and how can I pay?

Pricing for each parking service is listed on its respective page. There is a 15-minute grace period after you enter any parking area. The first day of your stay in an eligible lot may have prorated rates, but after the initial 24-hour period, the maximum daily rate is applied for each subsequent day. You can pay for parking with a credit card (Visa, MasterCard, Discover, and American Express) or by making a reservation online.

What happens if I don’t have enough money to pay for my parking at CLT?

In line with our Insufficient Funds Policy, you will be directed to re-park your vehicle. The airport will hold the vehicle while you arrange for payment. The parking fee will not increase during this time. However, if the fee is not paid within 48 hours, the standard published rates will begin to apply from the time the vehicle was originally parked. If the payment is not made within 30 days of the insufficient funds notice, your vehicle will be considered abandoned, and the City of Charlotte’s Code Enforcement will be contacted for impoundment.

Where is handicap parking available?

Designated handicap parking spots are available in all airport parking facilities, and all shuttles are accessible. If you require assistance, please call 704-359-4038.

How long can I park my car at a CLT parking facility? Is it possible to leave my car in the Daily Deck for more than one day?

You may park your vehicle at any CLT parking facility for up to 30 days without prior notice. If your stay will exceed 30 days, please contact the CLT Parking office at 704-359-4038 to make arrangements.

How can I find out which parking facilities are open before I arrive? Can I reserve a parking spot?

For the latest information on parking status, rates, and directions, check the Parking Availability page or call 704-359-4038. Airport signage on the roadways also provides real-time updates. A facility is considered full when there are not enough available spaces to properly accommodate vehicles. Follow the signs for guidance to an open lot.

To guarantee a spot, especially during busy periods, it’s best to book online in advance. You can book official CLT Airport parking through our website or the mobile app by selecting your entry and exit dates. Each lot has designated spaces for both drive-up customers (on a first-come, first-served basis) and online reservations. When a facility shows a “Booked” or “Reservation Only” status, it means all drive-up spots are full, but those with an online booking will still have access.

What should I do if I can’t find my parking ticket?

If you have lost your parking ticket, simply drive to the toll plaza and press the “Help” button for assistance.

Is there a number to call for help with parking or to reach parking staff?

Yes, you can call 704-359-4038 or use the “INFO” button on the blue call boxes located throughout the lots and decks.

What are the operating hours for parking facilities?

All CLT parking facilities are open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Are there any covered parking options?

Yes, covered parking is available at the Valet, Hourly Deck, Daily Decks, and Express Decks.

Where can I park a motorcycle, camper, trailer, or other oversized vehicle?

Motorcycle parking is specifically located in Express Deck Preferred. Upon entry, follow the “Motorcycle Parking Only” sign to the left for designated spaces. For all other large vehicles, please call 704-359-4038 to arrange parking.

Common Shuttle Bus Questions

When do shuttle buses operate?

Shuttle buses run continuously, 24/7, and are a free service transporting travelers between parking facilities and the terminal. They arrive every 10-15 minutes, depending on traffic. To ensure a bus is available after 11 p.m., you can call 704-359-4038.

Where do I catch a shuttle when parking at CLT?

You can board a shuttle at one of the shelters in Long Term Lots 1 and 2, the shelter between the Daily Decks, or from Express Deck Preferred.

Where do I board shuttle buses when leaving the terminal?

All shuttle buses can be found on the inner lanes outside the terminal’s Arrivals/Baggage Claim level.

What if I have multiple passengers and a lot of luggage?

We recommend dropping off passengers and luggage at the curbside on the upper level (Departures/Ticketing) before proceeding to a parking facility to park your vehicle.

Who should I contact about an item left on a shuttle or in a parking lot?

For items that have been lost, please refer to the Lost and Found page for more information.
